How Acupuncture Relaxes You
Acupuncture uses your body’s internal mechanisms to bring relief. When the fine needles stimulate nerves under the skin, the nerve sends a message to the brain, telling it to release our natural pain killers, called endorphins. These natural brain chemicals cause us to relax and feel euphoric or happy
Endorphins are also released during exercise which is why we often get a high whilst recovering from a strenuous exercise session. They are not released from a hot bath. Whilst a bath can be a relaxing experience it does not bring about the deep relaxation induced by the release of your blocked energy channels during acupuncture
Listen to your Body
Try acupuncture for relaxation and stress management – book a course of five treatments. Notice how you feel before your treatment during your treatment and afterwards. Make a note on you phone if it helps, or, better still, keep a hand written journal. That in itself is very therapeutic
Different techniques add up to more than the sum of their parts
From a consultation we may decide that you would benefit more from a combination of different treatments – integrated therapies
- Ear acupuncture
- Tui Na massage
- Cupping
In addition to acupuncture restoring the yin and yang, the massage and cupping therapies will help with associated tensions
